Dr. Farooq Naeem FRCPSYCH
MSc Research Methods, PhD Department of Psychiatry, University of TorontoBio: Dr. Farooq Naeem is a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and founder of the Pakistan Association of Cognitive Therapists (PACT).
Expertise:
- Pioneered cultural adaptation techniques for cognitive behavioral therapy, including developing the Southampton Adaptation Framework model
- Led over 30 randomized controlled trials applying adapted CBT globally to address mental health conditions
- Renowned expertise in global mental health and cultural adaptation of evidence-based psychotherapies
- Extensive publications on adapting psychotherapy for non-Western cultures
- Received numerous honors including Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Network on Personal Meaning
Isabel Clarke
Consultant Clinical PsychologistBio: Isabel Clarke is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of experience in the UK National Health Service.
Expertise: Developed the 'Comprehend, Cope, and Connect' model integrating third-wave CBT approaches for trauma-informed care.
Dr. Chris Trimmer
Professor of PsychologyBio: Dr. Chris Trimmer is a Professor in the Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology program at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario.
Expertise: Dr. Trimmer is the lead researcher and trainer for CBT-Music, an innovative approach to CBT that integrates music listening and performance. CBT-Music has shown significant promise in real-world therapeutic settings, demonstrating improved client engagement and response.
Dr. Syed Ali Naqvi CPsychol
Chartered Psychologist Consultant CBT Therapist & Supervisor EMDR Europe Accredited ConsultantBio: Dr. Syed Ali Naqvi also known as Ali Akbar Mansoor is an internationally renowned psychologist and writer who has worked locally and internationally with governments, corporations, and foundations for more than 35 years. He completed his education and professional training at the most prestigious institutions in Pakistan, the UK, and Germany. His specialized training and experience in human behaviour and psychology encompass approaches such as Behaviour Therapy, REBT, Ind & Group CBT, EMDR, MBCT, NET, CFT, DBT, and Schema-Focused Cognitive Therapy. He is a Chartered Psychologist, EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant, and BABCP-accredited CBT Consultant. Dr. Naqvi has significant professional and academic experience in research, teaching, training, and leading and supervising psychology in universities, higher education institutions, corporate settings, defense and armed forces, as well as in government and public sectors. He has numerous research publications on various dimensions of human behaviour and change, with a special focus on PTSD. Additionally, he has presented a significant number of research papers at international conferences and has 8 published books in Urdu and English on psychology, philosophy, and literature. His renowned book, 'Muslim Nafsiyat,' was the first Urdu book on the subject of Muslim Psychology. Currently, he serves as a member of the editorial boards of the international peer-reviewed journals 'Pakistan Journal of Psychology' and 'Pakistan Journal of Clinical Psychology.' Dr. Naqvi has served as an Advisor in Human Psychology at the Ministry of Defence, Pakistan, where his responsibilities included training special services, planning and implementing Psy Ops policies, asymmetric warfare, and combat stress management. In addition to his published books, he developed the first stress management field manual for the armed forces of Pakistan. His clinical work demonstrates successful interventions with patients experiencing mild to very complex and challenging mental health problems, coming from diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. His major areas of expertise include PTSD and Social Anxiety. For the past 17 years, Dr. Naqvi has been working for the NHS, currently serving as the Professional & Strategic Lead for Common Mental Disorders in one of the NHS mental health trusts in London.
Dr. Peter Phiri PhD
Director of Research & Innovation, Southern Heath NHS Foundation TrustBio: Visiting Academic, School of Psychology, University of Southampton. RMHN and Specialist Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist with over 20 years clinical expertise in the NHS.
Expertise: Expert in cultural adaptations of CBT across diverse populations. Clinical trialist conducting research across disease areas. Author of books including “Clinical Trials and Tribulations” and “Cultural adaptation of CBT for Serious Mental Illness”. Published widely and disseminated work nationally and internationally. BABCP Fellow and scientific journal peer reviewer.
Richard Tyo PhD
Registered Psychotherapist, BSocSc, RPBio: Rich is an educator, therapist, and musician with 16 years of experience in the mental health field. His diverse roles include crisis worker, case manager, advocate, community organizer, and psychotherapist. Passionate about inspiring and empowering individuals to feel whole again, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his work.
Expertise: Rich's teaching encompasses various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic therapy, transpersonal psychology, and Psychedelic therapy. With a background in Psychedelic best practices, harm reduction, and psychotherapy, he also emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship in his engaging and clinically informed teaching style.
